Le Berger Hotel

The Berger Hotel is a legendary, intimate Brussels boutique hotel. Built in the forties, it was recently renovated but the decoration and spirit that defined it have been conserved.
When it was renovated, its new owners decided to change the function: once known as a “pay by the hour” hotel, it now addresses a general public, while conserving the historic connotations of its roots.

Each room is unique and the furniture is split between the original elements: floral wallpaper, faceted columns, sunken square bathtubs … and elements that have been sought out in a vintage spirit. This almost cinematographic décor gives the location a particular ambiance. It’s a lived-in space.

The challenge of the new image: the hotel defines itself as contemporary, while being imbued with a rich history.

Codefrisko drew inspiration from the communications of Hollywood stars of the forties, notably the stationary found in mansions at that time, allowing guests to leave a note or to send a letter from their room.

Salvaging the old outside sign, composed of a series of light boxes, evokes a faraway road trip on the trail of old Hollywood, with its smoky diners and burlesque cabarets, giving the image of the Berger Hotel a glamorous and decidedly cosmopolitan side. The gothic typeface has been slightly modified, reinforcing the logo’s retro spirit.

Beyond the logo, the entirety of the communication is balanced by the choice of a secondary and more modern font and a classic, airy and elegant composition.
